Gwen Anita Hornbeak Jones was born in Stroud, Oklahoma on June 8, 1962 and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the age of 49 years. Gwen was the daughter of George and Ida 'Sweet' (Taylor) Hornbeak. Gwen was a resident of Ada, Oklahoma. She was raised in Stroud and graduated from Stroud High School in 1980. She went on to Central State University. Gwen went to Francis Tuttle Vocational School when she became a Respiratory Therapist. Gwen worked at these hospitals in Oklahoma: Stroud Municipal (Stroud, OK), Bristow Memorial (Bristow, OK), Mercy (OKC), OU Medical Center (OKC), Baptist Hospital (OKC), St. Francis Hospital (Tulsa, OK), Valley View Regional Hospital (Ada, OK, Equip Care (Ada, OK), Arbuckle Memorial Hospital (Sulphur, OK), and Scott & White (Temple, TX). She was a member of the Reaper Baptist Church in Ada, Oklahoma. Gwen was preceded in death by her mother, Ida on December 7, 1993, grandparents, Booker T., Sr. and Annie Hornbeak, and L.M. Sr. and Quoner Taylor. Survivors include, Father, George of Stroud, OK, One Son, Tyler Jones of Ada, OK, Two Sisters, Alisa Hornbeak of Stroud, OK, Annette Caufield & husband Charles Sr. of Newton, TX, and niece, La'Neishea Caufield-Daniels (Jeffery)of Norman, OK, 2 nephews, Charles, Jr. 'Chuckie' Caufield of Maumelle, AR, and Kyle Caufield of Ada, OK, 2 great newphews, Ke'Mari Daniels and Khalil Daniels of Norman, OK, and also special to her was her Aunt Vernetta Hornbeak of Okalhoma City, OK, Aunt Barbara Taylor of Midwest City, Ok, and her Uncle Louis Taylor of San Angelo, Tx, and a host of other loving relatives and friends. FOR I AM NOW READY TO BE OFFERED, AND THE TIME OF MY DEPARTURE IS AT HAND. I HAVE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT, I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH Funeral service will be held at the C. B. Wright Auditorium, Stroud, OK on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Elder Samuel Green officiating. Burial will be in the Godwin Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, Oklahoma.
