Gorman C. Sparks, McLoud, OK, age 81, was born on November 22, 1925, in Harrah, OK. He was the son of Ruben and Cora Hurry Sparks. He passed from this life on August 3, 2007, in McLoud, OK. Gorman was a lifelong resident of the Harrah and McLoud area, serving in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. Gorman married Lois Tison on October 8, 1950 in McLoud, OK. He attended OSU, getting his degree in economics. He worked for the Oklahoma Tax Commission, for 27 years, retiring as the Assistant Director of the Motor Vehicle Division. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in McLoud, the McLoud Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and Chaplain for the McLoud Masonic Lodge # 126. Gorman enjoyed singing, playing the piano & guitar, playing with his grandkids and great-grandkids and he wrote a book. Gorman was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Alton Curtis Sparks, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Lois Sparks of the home; 3 sons & 1 daughter-in-law, David W. Sparks, Wellston, OK, Dennis W. Sparks, Harrah, OK, Douglas W. & Meranda Sparks, Newalla, OK; daughter, Kathy Green, Edmond, OK; sister-in-law, Lucille Nelson, Shawnee, OK; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of McLoud with Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery, Dale, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
