Long-time Prague resident Glenn Elwood Hecker, Jr. passed away at his home on February 14, 2015, surrounded by his wife and children. Glenn was 85 years of age. Glenn was born on February 5, 1930, to Glenn Elwood Hecker and Mary Lavina (Belden) Hecker in Bridgeport, Nebraska. As a young child, his family moved near St. Joseph, Missouri where his family farmed. In 1945, he moved to the Washington State area. He graduated from Meadows High School at Vancouver, Washington in 1948. In 1950, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and received his training at San Antonio, Texas and Biloxi, Mississippi. He then was transferred to Amarillo, Texas where he met the love of his life, Kathleen Thompson. Kathleen and Glenn were married in Prague on May 3, 1952. Glenn was a member and Deacon of Pleasant Home Baptist Church until his death. He was a well known farmer and rancher in the Prague and Pottawatomie County area. He was a life-long St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Hecker; and one sister, Iris Jean, and one infant sister, Elizabeth. Glenn is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Hecker of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Trey (Glenn E Hecker, III) and Cecilia of Prague; four daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Dennis Cannon of Lone Grove, Carol and Les Smith of Prague, Rita and Terry Martin of Prague and Melanie Jean (Jeannie) and Mark Goodner of Stillwater; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Loretta Hecker of Oklahoma City; one sister, Lois Irene Bullock of Fremont, California; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; other family and friends. The family will receive family and friends at Parks Brother Funeral Chapel Sunday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Home Baptist Church with Brother Nathan Howard officiating. Interment will follow at the Prague Cemetery.
