Former Meeker resident, Gertrude Turner Vychytil, 98, was born on August 28, 1910, near Wynnewood, Oklahoma, to John William George and Ora McConnell Rinehart, and passed from this earth on December 18, 2008, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma Gertie married Haskell Turner on July 16, 1934 in Elmore City, Oklahoma. He passed away on September 16, 1973. She married Wes Vychytil on September 26, 1975 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He passed away on July 26, 2001. Gertie worked at Williams Candy Company in Oklahoma City during World War II and at Lewis Mfg. in Meeker in the late 1960s. Gertie played mandolin while Haskell played fiddle for almost 40 years. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and was a seamstress. She worked cows and built fences alongside Haskell for many years. Gertie was a very strong-willed woman. Her parents; brothers, Lonnie, Wesley, Elmer, and Melvin Rinehart; and sister, Helen Robinson, also preceded Gertie in death. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Roy Hammons of Macomb; step-daughter and husband, Joann and Max Watkins of Meeker; grandson, Randy Fowler of Meeker; granddaughters, Michelle Underwood of Shawnee, Nicole Davis of Ada; great-grandchildren, Eden, Molly and Cade Underwood, Eryn and Austin Fowler, Kinley and Madison Davis; sisters-in-law, Bernice Rinehart, Helen Rinehart, Veta Rinehart, all of Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Chaplain Mike McCauley officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
