George Truman Jepsen, Jr.

November 18, 1921 — September 28, 2005

Former Prague resident, George Truman Jepsen, Jr., Lt. Col., Ret., of Granbury, TX, went to Heaven on Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at the age of 83. Mr. Jepsen was born to George and Mary Lillian Ambrister Jepsen on November 18, 1921. On November 28, 1942 he married Lloydell Joyce Oplinger. Together they had three children; Joyce, Jane, and George, III. Lloydell Jepsen passed away on January 28, 1978. God blessed Mr. Jepsen with a second marriage to Karen Durmon on June 21, 1980. Through this marriage his family grew to include four step-children; Kenneth Osborn, Rick Durmon, Kathy Goldman, and Rona Shoopack. As the years passed, Mr. Jepsen was blessed with loving grandchildren; Jason Martin, Jennifer Baird, and Rhiannon Jepsen; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Martin, Conner Martin, and Samantha Baird; five step-grandchildren, Sean Cox, Tyler Osborn, Lindsay Osborn, Brittany Pace, and Katie Shoopack. Mr. Jepsen had many close friends and enjoyed time with his coffee buddies at What-a-Burger. At a young age, Mr. Jepsen wanted to fly. He fulfilled his teenage dream by attending Oklahoma Military Academy in 1939. He then joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 as a ferrying pilot, delivering planes all over the world during World War II, and was discharged in 1945. He worked in the family milling business until 1951 when he was recalled into military service in the US Air Force. In the following years, he served in Germany, Spain, and England. Mr. Jepsen retired in 1970 as Lt. Col. His parents, and one grandson, Kyle Martin, also preceded Mr. Jepsen in death. Survivors include his wife, Karen Jepsen of the home in Granbury, TX; daughters, Joyce Marsh of Shawnee, Jane Martin and her husband, Alan, of Prague, son, George Jepsen, III, and his wife, Diane, of Shawnee; stepchildren, Kenneth Osborn, Rich Durmon, Kathy Goldman, Rona Shoopack; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 5 step-grandchildren.
