George Michael "Mike" Hesket

George also known as Mike was the fifth child born in Lawton, Oklahoma to George and Bonnie Hesket on December 27th, 1958. He is survived by his Mother Bonnie Hesket and his four sisters Debbie and Joe Hankins, Brenda and Randy Breeze, Linda Taff, and Tonya Miller. Nieces and nephews Spencer Hankins, Kimberly Harris, Nickey and Philip Jones, Mikey and Holly Hankins, Ryan and Sara Breeze, and Renee and Andy Bennett. Great nieces and nephews Krislyn Harris, Raegan, Rossi, and Ryder Breeze. He was proceeded in death by his Father George Hesket, Nephew Rickey “Bubby” Miller, and Bother-in-Law Johnny Taff.

Mike attended Lawton Public Schools through the 5th grade where he participated in little league football, baseball, and basketball. In 1970, Mike moved to Stroud, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1977 from Stroud High School. During his time in school, he participated in many activities including football, basketball, baseball, and Student Council President his Senior year. Mike garnered lifelong friends during this time and was highly dedicated to his class.

After high school Mike attended Bethel College in Newton, Kansas. There is where Mike learned to have fun among other educational things. After college he returned to Stroud where he helped raise his nieces and nephews. He attended every game and activity, including dance recitals and plays, but he enjoyed the football games most.

In 2014, Mike moved back to Lawton. During his time in Lawton, he was a huge fan of the Lawton High Wolverines. While there he was a huge support to the coaches his brother-in-law and nephew during the Wolverine football season. He was a permanent fixture on the sidelines and all practices to support the coaches and the team members. Where he always considered himself the best unofficial assistant coach for the team.

Mike was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was always the life and fun of the party where he never met a stranger. He will be sorely missed by all.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers to please send a donation to the American Heart Association in Mike’s name. The family appreciates all the thoughts and stories shared about Mike.
