George Lee Gann was born on January 27, 1939 in Davenport, Oklahoma and departed this life on August 16, 2020 in Stroud, Oklahoma at the age of 81. George was born to John D and Bertha Mae (Phillips) Gann. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1957. George worked for many years in the oil and gas business, retiring from Sun Oil Company. He served in the National Guard for many years and was also a volunteer firefighter for Stroud for several years. George loved to fish and more than anything loved his sports. For many years he was a referee, umpire and coach in Stroud. He enjoyed getting to watch his kids, grandkids and even his great grandkids play sports. George was one of a kind, he was full of life and loved to dance. The last few years he enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Davenport Senior Citizens Center. George was a member of Davenport First Baptist Church. George is preceded in death by his parents John D and Bertha Mae; brothers Baxter, Joe, and Ray Gann; and sister Wilma Mae Howell. Survivors include daughters Cindy Hickman and husband Danny of Stroud, Oklahoma, Tamie Newell and husband Tim of Mount Vernon, Missouri, Rhonda Franklin and husband Terry of Stroud, Oklahoma and Darla Clark and husband Mike of Chandler, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren as well as many extended family and friends. Funeral Service for George will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Davenport First Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery in Stroud, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, OK.
