George Austin Thomason

September 12, 1930 — April 22, 2004

George Austin Thomason, a long time Dallas, Texas resident and a retired City of Dallas Police Officer, passed away suddenly in Palm Beach County, Florida. George and his wife had recently retired and moved to West Palm Beach. George was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served overseas with the United States Navy. He was a rookie police detective at the time of the Kennnedy assasination and worked with many veteran police detectives. He had a life long career in investigation and law enforcement and had received commendations from Henry Wade for his ability to give court testimonies. He earned a BS Degree in Crminial Justice from Sam Houston University. Following his retirement from the Dallas Police Department, George served as vice-president of InterFirst Bank in downtown Dallas, worked as an investigator for attorney Kenneth Blassingame, and in later retirement worked part-time for Dallas County Judge Anne Ashby. George is survived by his wife, Robbie, of the home in West Palm Beach, Florida; son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Sheila Thomason; grandsons Joseph and Toby; daughter & son-in-law, Kathleen & Ben Bennington; grandson, David Hall & his wife Dawn; great- grandson, Canyon; and granddaughter Sara Hall; son, John Thomason & Sandra Knight; grandson Ashley Thomason and Wife Marsha; aunt, Rachel Fitzgerald of Nashville, TN.
