Geneva Faye Hagar of Meeker, made her journey home on October 27, 2011, at the age of 101. She was surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Geneva was born August 30, 1909 to Jim and Alma Thomas. Geneva was born in Sparks and later moved to the Meeker area and graduated from Meeker High School on May 9, 1929. On August 31, 192,9 she married Earl Wesley Hagar. Together, they had one son, Dean Earl Hagar. Geneva owned and operated Geneva’s Beauty Shop for 45 years. She also helped Earl in the managing of Hagar’s Welding, a family business that has been passed down from father to son since 1897 and is still in operation today by Geneva’s grandson, Ray Dean Hagar and her great-grandson, John Henry Hagar. Geneva and Earl were happily married for 48 years until Earl passed on November 15, 1977. Geneva was an 81-year member of the Eastern Star. She loved to play cards with her friends, especially Canasta. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, knitting, and making beaded Christmas ornaments. She received great joy out of hosting dinner parties and sharing fellowship with her friends. Geneva was well known in the Meeker community and all who knew her were touched by her, her kindness, and her faith in God. Geneva had a love for her church and her church family. One of her most cherished adventures was traveling to Jerusalem and the Holy Land with other members of her church family from Meeker First Baptist Church. Geneva was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Wesley Hagar; son, Dean Earl Hagar; one brother; Ray Thomas, her sister-in-law; Freda Thomas, and one infant granddaughter. Survivors include two grandchildren, Ray Dean Hagar of the home and Carolyn McLemore and her husband, Don, of Chandler; daughter-in-law, Janet Hagar of Meeker; four great-grandchildren, Holly Morrell and her husband, Cooper, of Paden. Nicole Hagar Henry and her husband, Ronnie, of Meeker, John Henry Hagar, II, of Meeker, Justin Hulstine of Meeker; five great-great-grandchildren, Mandrale Henry, Tyler Shutt, Carson Fleming, Miley Morrell and Cooper Morrell, Jr.; one niecek, Judy Walkup; one nephew, Pete Thomas; great-nieces,Lane Tiffee and her son, Tucker, Ashley Maston and her daughter, Bailey; great nephew, Kyle Thomas. The Hagar family will receive friends on Monday evening, October 31, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church in Meeker with Rev. Joe Jones officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.
