Gene Rhea Dawson

Gene Rhea Dawson, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born May 5, 1938, in Seminole, Oklahoma. He departed this life on September 18, 2019, in Oklahoma City at the age of 81 years. Gene Rhea was the son of Roy Lee and Gene Rhea (Herndon) Dawson. He graduated in 1956, from Chandler High where he was a member of the All State Football Team his senior year. Gene Rhea served in Army National Guard, 160th Field Artillery, First Battalion and retired after 26 years of service. He was in Law Enforcement for many years having worked for the Chandler Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff's office, and finally as a Special Investigator with the Lincoln - Pottawatomie County District Attorney's office. His hobbies included fishing and spending time with his family. His parents preceded Gene Rhea in death. Survivors include his wife, Eugenia Tyner-Dawson; four sons, Gene Rhea Dawson Jr., Wesley Dawson, Michael Dawson and wife Laura, and Matt Dawson and wife Kalen; one sister and brother-in-law, Kristie and Jimmy Clarkson; niece Teri (Clarkson) Tislow; nephew, Greg Clarkson; five grandchildren, Dalton, Daxton, Madelon, Logan and Morgan; one step-daughter, Margaret Franklin and her children, Calib, Mayraya, & Icle Brewer; other relatives and many friends. The family would like to thank Eden Homes in Oklahoma City, and Centennial Hospice for their exceptional care. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 23, 2019, at Parks Brothers Chapel in Chandler with Rev. Hugh Willoby officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler with Don Abney officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
