Gene Lyon

October 28, 1932 — January 10, 2008

Roy Eugene Lyon was born on October 28, 1932, in Paden, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, January 10, 2008, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 75. Gene, the son of William Roy and Virgie Cordelia Hames Lyon, was a life-long resident of Paden. He graduated from Paden High School with the class of 1950. He married Mary Eulena Davis on November 29, 1950 in Paden. Gene retired from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and was also a dairy farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paden. Gene’s favorite hobby was raising mules. His parents preceded Gene in death. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Eulena Lyon of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Sherrie Lyon of Prague; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Paul Smith of Dewey, Debbie and James Springer of Prague; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Jolene Lyon of Paden, Carl and Mary Jane Lyon of Pauls Valley; grandchildren, Paula Schornick, Brad Smith, Roger Lyon, Joe Lyon, Jeter Simpkins, Travis Simpkins; 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 3:00 PM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Bro. Paul Heard, Rev. Morris Brown, and Rev. Terry Pittman officiating. Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
