Gene Lewis, Harrah, OK, age 70, was born on September 27, 1933, in Wichita Falls, TX. He was the son of Gilmer Allen & Alice Banks Lewis. He left this life on January 18, 2004, in Midwest City, OK. Gene graduated from Wichita Falls High School in May 1952, and married his high school sweetheart, Marcella Anderson, on May 30, 1952. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends, in May 2002. Gene worked for Safeway Stores, Inc. for over 20 years, starting out on the loading dock and ending his career with Safeway in management at the Oklahoma City Ice Cream & Milk Plant. He also served in one capacity or another at the Safeway Credit Union for 20 years. He built houses in Harrah and Choctaw in the 80?s & 90?s, until he went into full retirement. In his retirement years, he enjoyed his lake house at Eufaula, captaining his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends in his boat for fishing and fun. He leaves his family and all who knew him a rich legacy of memories of his honor, generosity, and love. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Gilmer Allen Lewis. Survivors include his wife, Marcella Lewis, Harrah, OK; son, Brett Allen Lewis, Norman, OK; 3 daughters & 2 sons-in-law, Carolyn & Gary Milnes, Arkansas, LeaAnne Pinegar, Checotah, OK, Alice & Chuck Coker, Choctaw, OK; mother, Alice Lewis, Texas; 4 brothers, Don Lewis, Texas, Truman Lewis, Colorado, G.A. Lewis, Tulsa, OK, Dennis Lewis, Texas; 2 sisters, Shirley Elliott, Texas, Kay Lewis, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Delbert Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
