Gary Lemuel Barton, age 64, of Harrah, OK, was born on January 2, 1945, in Muskogee, OK. He was the son of Lemuel Webster & Edna Faye Carlile Barton. He left this life on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, in Midwest City, OK. Gary proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era in the 1st Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment in Charlie Company as a Blue Spader. He married Maria Bryant on August 7, 1978, in Wichita Falls, TX. Gary was a fire fighter with Oklahoma City, retiring in 1986 as a Captain. He continued his retirement life at Harrah Public Schools. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Gary enjoyed flying remote control airplanes, fishing, watching baseball and his dog, 'Bandit'. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda Gail. He is survived by his wife, Maria Barton, Harrah, OK; 2 sons & daughter-in-law, Chad & Heather Barton, Midwest City, OK, Michael Gay, Woodward, OK; 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Stephanie & Mike Doan, Blanchard, OK, Emily Rogers, Midwest City, OK, Christa & Doug Hammack, New Albany, IN; 10 grandchildren, Zach, Erin, Taylor, Jaden, Jessica, Macey, Venoy, Harper, Abigayle & Spencer and many other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to Chromosome 18 Foundation or the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Harrah United Methodist Church, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Glenda Skinner-Noble officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
