Franklin Devon Holik died on November 7, 2014. On June 27, 1947. he was born in Prague, OK to Virginia Lois (Ward) Holik and Victor Devon Holik. At the age of 8, he moved to Crescent City, CA to live with his great aunt and uncle, Dora and Lloyd Ward, who raised him and his two adopted brothers, Clayton H. Ward and James Edward Ward, until adulthood. In 1966, he enlisted in the Army, where he became a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War in the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment “Black Horse”. After the war, he pursued various careers throughout the state of California and in time retired from the California Department of Parks and Recreation. In retirement, he enjoyed working on his property near the home he was raised in by Dora and Lloyd Ward. He will be remembered for his stubborn nature, generosity, and “take care of business” attitude. He is survived by his three daughters, Charity Rachel Holik Thomas, Chelsea Lee Holik and Desiree Lynn Holik; grandchildren, Skylar Elizabeth Malone, Rickey Stephen Thomas III, Seth Anthony Thomas and Greydon James Thomas, and his beloved dog, Sammy. His final resting place will be next to his father in the Czech National Cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
