Frances L. Walker

December 5, 1917 — June 27, 2004

Frances L. Walker of Meeker, Oklahoma, was born December 5, 1917, at Morris, Oklahoma, and died peacefully at home on June 27, 2004. Her parents were Ella Nichols and William Edgar Jones. Mrs. Walker graduated from Wetumka High School and later completed Shawnee Vocational Practical Nursing School at City Hospital. She practiced nursing there and at Mission Hill Hospital. She also worked at the Kickapoo Head Start program. She married Estes Walker on February 10, 1940, in Vian, Oklahoma, where they lived until the outset of World War II when they moved to a farm near Meeker. After Estes? retirement, they lived for 10 years in Port Isabel, Texas, moving back to Meeker 17 years ago. While in Port Isabel, she was active in the Baptist Church, especially enjoying teaching the Junior Sunday School Class. She is a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Estes Walker; sister, Mary Franklin; and grandchildren, Amy, Joseph, and Phillip Woodard. Survivors include daughters, Kathryn Baumwart of Oklahoma City, Suzanne Price of Meeker, Mary Woodard of Meeker; sister, Wynona Thrower; 8 grandchildren, Joel Baumwart, Sara Place, Anne Rocha, Kelly Price, Shelly Wilson, David Price, Melissa Cox, Laura Benham; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
