Floyd Dean Gilbert was born on July 21, 1929, in Paden, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, December 19, 2013, in Midwest City, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. Floyd, the son of James Monroe and Jennie Frances (Prevett) Gilbert, was a resident of Midwest City. Floyd married Emma Mae (Holmes) Gilbert on September 8, 1950, in Prague. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1971 and then continuing in civil service as a cockpit instrument mechanic. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Floyd loved woodworking, his computer, airplanes and the United States Air Force. He was a shade tree mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Emma Gilbert of the home; son, Randy Gilbert of Midwest City; daughters and son-in-law, Linda Hamrick of Midwest City, Chyrole Lashbrook of Midwest City and Candice and Mike Carter of Moore; twin sister, Jean Leonard of Chandler; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, family and friends The Gilbert family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2013, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM, at Parks Brothers Chapel in Prague with Bro. Dale Hartman officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
