Florene Garland

Jennie “Florene” Garland, age 73 was born on August 29, 1944, in Prague, and departed this life on Sunday, July 1, 2018, at her home in Paden, while being surrounded by her loving family. Florene was the daughter of Samuel “Archie” and Bertha (Brown) Lakins. Florene was the loving wife of John Wayne Garland and they made their home in Paden. She was a member of the Paden Homemakers Club and was an active member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Prague. Florene enjoyed embroidering towels, sheets and table cloths for her friends and family. Florene enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and could often be found, sitting at the dining room table, watching the humming birds, squirrels and other wildlife outside of her window. Florene also had passion for her flower gardens and her banana trees. Florene was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bobby Wayne Garland; sisters, Lorene Kimsey and Goldie Sandoz and brothers, Archie Lakins, Doyle Lakins and Bill Lakins. Survivors include: her husband, John Garland, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Angelia and Gerald Britt of Stratford; one granddaughter and husband Susan and Mark Stone of Paden; her “adopted son,” Rick Lakins, her special nephew, Steven Lakins; brother and wife, Ronnie and Rachel Lakins of Paden; sister and husband, Lavonne and Howard Brown of Prague; brother and wife, James and Evelyn Lakins of Prague; sister Jewel Collins of Pawhuska, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Free Will Baptist Church in Prague. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Paden. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
