Faye I. Effinger, Harrah, OK, age 92, was born on May 15, 1919, in DeWitt, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Samuel & Blanche Henderson. She left this life on Saturday, March 24, 2012, in Harrah, OK. Faye graduated from Jonesboro High School and then moved to Oklahoma City where she met and then married John Effinger in 1946. They moved to Harrah in 1948 where they farmed and had three sons. After her husband's sudden death in 1957, Faye was employed by Harrah schools, eventually managing lunch programs for all cafeterias for thirty years. Faye was widely known in the Harrah area as the Cinnamon Roll Lady for the thousands she baked for school fundraisers. She was a onetime Harrah Citizen of the Year, an FDR Democrat and an avid Sooner fan attending games into her 80's; it would be difficult to know in what order to rank her heroes, Switzer, Stoops and Roosevelt. Faye was a member of the First Baptist Church for fifty years where she nurtured generations of Harrah citizens in the nursery. To Faye friends were family and family, friends. It could be said, she is 'survived by the town of Harrah.' Faye was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters, Helen, Lois and Joy. She is survived by her 3 sons & daughters-in-law, John Effinger, San Francisco, CA, Sam & Sandra Effinger, Oklahoma City, OK, Charlie & Laurie Effinger, Harrah, OK; 2 grandchildren, Matt & Owen Effinger, beloved nieces and devoted friends, Paul and Shirley. Donations for Falls Creek scholarships, to her church, First Baptist Church, 2185 N. Church Ave., Harrah, OK 73045, would be pleasing to her memory. Services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Harrah First Baptist Church, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
