Evelyn V. Flippen

Evelyn V. Duncan Flippen, age 78, was born on May 28, 1926, in Cromwell, OK, and departed this life on Sunday, October 10, 2004, in Norman, OK. Evelyn was the daughter of W.Z. & Ada Graves Duncan. She graduated from Cromwell High School, then received her Bachelor?s degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Ada, OK, and her Master?s degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. She married Eugene W. Flippen on July 14, 1945. Evelyn taught in the Lawton School System and retired from the Mid-Del School System. She was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, and Oklahoma Retired Educators Association. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, painting, and gardening. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister. Survivors include one son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Gail Flippen, Oklahoma City, OK; one daughter, Marcia Peppel, Lawton, OK; one brother & sister-in-law, W.Z. & Maribell Duncan, Tulsa, OK; one sister, Bernice Carpenter, Okmulgee, OK; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 13, 2004, at the New Life United Methodist Church, Moore, OK, with Rev. Robert L. Majors officiating. Interment will be 3:00 PM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pauls Valley, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
