Evelyn L. (Smith) Seeley of Chandler, OK, departed this life for an eternity with Jesus on June 29, 2017. Evelyn was born in Wetumka, OK, to Jake and Pauline Smith on May 26, 1945. Her Junior year of High School she began to go steady with Doyle Seeley. Twenty three days after graduation Evelyn and Doyle said their “I Do’s”. That was June 8, 1963. They were married for 54 years and 21 days. To this marriage two children were added, son Richard and daughter Anita. Evelyn is survived by her husband Doyle of the home. Son Richard Seeley and wife Vicki. Daughter Anita Johnson and husband Errol. One granddaughter Rachel McCoy and husband Chris. One grandson Spenser Seeley. All of Chandler, OK. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of people in the churches she helped Pastor who loved her so dearly. She is preceded in death by her father, Jake and mother, Pauline Smith. Her brothers Jack, Kenneth, Leon, Darrell and Melvin along with one sister, Reba, have all gone on ahead as well. The most important One in Evelyn’s life was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Then came family and friends. In 1964 she inherited the job of being a Youth Pastor’s wife. She did that job very well until 1973. That year she became a Pastor’s wife, a work which she so skillfully and lovingly performed until the day Jesus received her Home. Evelyn loved serving the Lord and working for Him. Very early in life she and her sister, Reba, would sing as a duet at Wetumka Assembly of God. She carried her talent over to her married life where she first sang as a duet with Doyle. When the children were about 9 and 12, she made the family into a quartet. Many people were blessed by her efforts. In her ministry throughout the years she faithfully served as Children’s Church Leader, Choir Director, Song Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Missionette’s Director and Women’s Ministries Leader. She served for 16 years as Sectional Women’s Ministries Leader, ministering to over 40 churches. The list is too long to continue as the job of “Pastor’s Wife” is too large to fit into words. Needless to say she served well. Now she is with Jesus. He has said, “Well done. Enter In.” Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, July 3, 2017, at the First Assembly of God Church in Chandler. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler, Oklahoma.
