Evelyn Lovell, Jones, Oklahoma, died peacefully at her home place of 63 years on October 24, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Eva (McCuddy) Rowlen, brothers Ernest and Arthur, and her beloved husband, Bill. She left this world the same way she had lived her life—with quiet dignity. Born May 24, 1922, in Oklahoma County, Evelyn was a graduate of State Center High School. She became a member of the Jones Christian Church on August 15, 1938. During the 39 years she worked at Macklenburg-Duncan, she also worked alongside her husband managing their farm. She continued with the farm work after Bill’s death in 1976, and until three weeks prior to her death was still able to mow her yard, an activity she greatly enjoyed. Evelyn had a lifetime love of sports, from playing on the State Center High School girls’ basketball team in the early ‘30s, to being a passionate OU and OSU football and basketball fan. She was a loving and fiercely independent lady who greatly enjoyed the outdoors. Evelyn would spend hours grooming and tending her home and the farm she so dearly loved. Full of wit and wisdom, always generous and compassionate, she gave to all and never expected anything in return. This beloved lady is survived by her sister-in-law, Marie Rowlen; cousin, Rose Levescy; nieces & nephews, Cheryl Bell & husband, Joe; Richard Rowlen & wife, Carol; Bonnie James; Pam Pierce; John Rowlen & wife, Dawn; 11 great nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Sherl Wilm. The Lord blessed Evelyn during her final months by sending her a canine companion, Ben, a source of unconditional love, joy and laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Smith-Parks Funeral Service, 2039 N. Tim Holt Dr., Harrah, OK. Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 28, at 2pm at the west Luther Cemetery, Luther, OK, under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
