Eugene "Gene" Smith

Eugene 'Gene' Smith was born on May 11, 1943, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, January 19, 2012, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 68. Gene, the son of Stanley and Yolanda (Fox) Smith, was a resident of Prague. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era during which time he served two tours in the Republic of Vietnam with the U.S. Naval Mobile Construction 58th Battalion of the Seabees. Gene owned and operated Prague Electric since 1976. He married Virginia Patrick on July 3, 2007 in Van Buren, Arkansas. His parents and one brother, Gary Smith, preceded Gene in death. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Smith of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Stanley E. and Cynthia Smith of Norman; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky J. and Billy VanWorth of Prague and Tonya and Robert D. Clark of Prague; grandchildren, Stefani Korst, Desirae Mize, Bryan Mize, Gabe Smith, Eli Medina, Wanda Clark, Leslie Clark, Nikki Clark, Chris Clark. The Smith family will receive guests at Parks Brothers Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Rev. Scott Keneda officiating. Interment will held at a later date at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
