Eugene "Gene" Curtis Burns

Eugene 'Gene' Curtis Burns was born on December 31, 1926, in Aztec, NM, and departed this life on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, surrounded by his family at his home in Chandler, OK, at the age of 84 years. Gene, the son of Walter and Clyde (Youngblood) Burns, was a resident of Chandler. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Gene retired as a teamster. He married Margaret Buchanan on June 16, 1996. His parents and one sister preceded Gene in death. Survivors include wife, Margaret of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Alicia Burns of Nashville, TN, one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley G. and David Hazelip of Powder Springs, GA, two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie Bob McElroy and Brenda Killian, of Shawnee, OK, David and Beverly McElroy of Porum, OK, one step-daughter and son-in-law Sherri and Farris Buchanan of Oklahoma City, OK, one brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Betty Burns of Rio Rancho, NM, one sister Lyla Atkinson of Farmington, NM, one granddaughter, Shannon N. Burns of Nashville, TN, other relatives and many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prairie View Hospice, 1206 Manvel, Chandler, OK 74834 Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Chandler with Rev. Bruce Newby officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, OK.
