Etta Addeline Winkleman Castleberry was born on December 13, 1928 in Castle, Oklahoma, and went to Jesus on Monday, January 25, 2021 at the age of 92 years. Etta was one of Fourteen children born to Amelia Bertha Martie Winkleman and Benjamin Douty “Ben” Winkleman. She grew up in rural Lincoln County where her father worked as a carpenter and stone mason, later supervising many of the WPA projects in the area. Etta attended Davenport Schools, but left school in November of 1944 to marry Charles B. Castleberry, who was leaving to serve in World War II. Etta worked at G.F. Wacker’s Store in Stroud while Charles served in the Army. She joined the First Baptist Church in Stroud in 1956 and worked on the hospitality and other committees and sang in the choir while raising six children. Etta earned her GED in 1970 and an LPN degree in 1972; she worked at the Stroud Nursing Center then at the Stroud Hospital for 20 years. Etta was preceded in death by her parents, Amelia and Ben Winkleman, her husband Charles, one son who died shortly after birth, son Douglas Castleberry, and all of the thirteen brothers and sisters. Etta is survived by her two daughters and four sons: Charla Castleberry Owens and husband John of Stroud; Linda Castleberry Moring and husband Herb of Shawnee; Gerry Castleberry and wife Alice of Perry; Susan Castleberry (widow of Douglas) of Stroud; Charles Castleberry Jr. of Stroud; and Alan Castleberry and wife Tina of Stillwater. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren: Douglas Castleberry Jr., Brian Castleberry, Melody Edwards, Stephanie Keegan-Moring, Michael Owens, Sara Ledford, Jennifer Novotny, Aaron Castleberry, Steven Castleberry, Susan Moring, and Randa Lynn Castleberry. Etta was also blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Stroud officiated by Rev. James Bond and Rev.
