Ethel F. Payton

Ethel F. Payton was born on November 29, 1917, in Kendrick, OK, and departed this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, in Chandler, OK, at the age of 93. Ethel, the daughter of William and Elsie Mae (Kennedy) Earp, was a long-time resident of Chandler. She graduated from Chandler High School in 1936, and completed her studies at Hills Business College in Oklahoma City, OK. Ethel married Chester A. Payton, September 3, 1938, in Perkins, OK. She worked at the Lincoln County Treasures office and Chandler City Hall from which she retired in 1985, as City Clerk with over 20 years of service. Her parents, husband, and two brothers, Lloyd and Lee Earp preceded Ethel in death. Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Chester & Winnie Payton of Chandler, OK, daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl & John Stahl of Jet, OK, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 2:00 P.M., at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler with Brother Jim Morningstar officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
