Ervin James Mallonee was born on January 31, 1917, in Tryon, OK, and departed this life on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at his home in Chandler, OK, at the age of 91. Ervin, the son of James W. and Martha A. Miller Mallonee, was a long-time resident of Chandler. Ervin served in the United States Army during WWII. He was in four invasions –Sicily, France, Anzio, and Germany with Company B 180th Infantry 45th Division. His rank was Corporal. Ervin was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Five Star Service Ribbon, European Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and American Defense Ribbon. He enjoyed lifelong friendship with many of his unit. Ervin returned home to his wife Essie Hoover Mallonee, in 1945 and began working for Park Oil Co. At the same time he worked on his farm and attended the agricultural school in Stillwater. After Essie died in 1983, he sold off most of his farm. In 1988 he married Christine Cummings Wilbanks. Ervin was a member of Friends Church in Chandler. His parents, first wife, six sisters and two brothers preceded Ervin in death. Survivors include, Wife, Christine of the home; Step-son, Guy Wilbanks of Davenport, OK; Step-daughters, Angel Miller of Chandler, OK, Susan Waldman of Chandler, OK; Brother, Yunon Ray Mallonee; Nine step-grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 2:00 P.M., at Friends Church in Chandler with Pastor Chris Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
