Ernest Mendenhall, our precious husband, father, brother, and friend, slipped away from our hands and in the embrace of God on February 3, 2012 at the age of 85 years. Ernest Boyd Mendenhall was born in Chandler on October 28, 1926. He went to school and graduated in Chandler, he was drafted into the army at the age of 18 and served 2 years. After leaving the military he returned to Chandler and worked at the Post office. It was during this time that his heart caught eyes of a beautiful young lady named Gloria June Troyer. On October 10, 1948, Ernest and Gloria became man and wife. In 1952 Ernest left the Post Office and began a career with Texaco. They raised their family in Chandler, where he also volunteered as a Firefighter for 15 years. Ernest retired from Texaco after 33 years. Ernest is preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl and Laura Mendenhall, one brother, Cecil Mendenhall, and one sister Leota Judd. He is survived by the love of his life, whom he was married to for 63 years, Gloria, of the home, two sons, Jerry and Sharon Mendenhall of Johnson, Kansas and Chris and Pat Mendenhall of Perryton, Texas. Two sisters Evolee Franklin of Terlingua, Texas and Thelda Beasler of Chandler, Oklahoma. Four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and a host of friends and lived ones. The family asks in lieu of flowers please donate to your favirite charity.
