Elsie Mae Patton, long-time, Chandler, Oklahoma, resident, was born on May 18, 1918, in Davenport, Oklahoma, and departed this life on December 15, 2003, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years. Elsie was the daughter of James Alfred and Roxie Jane Denny Morris. She married Raymond James Patton in Bristow, Oklahoma, on March 8, 1939. Elsie taught elementary school for over 35 years in the Lincoln County area. In 1996 she was selected as the V.I.M. Very Important Member for the Lincoln County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Oklahoma State Education Association, Lincoln County Historical Society, the Theta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, and long time member of the First Baptist Church in Chandler, Oklahoma. Her parents, husband, one son, and three brothers preceded Elsie in death. Survivors include one son & daughter-in-law, James E. & Kaye Patton of Broken Arrow, OK; one sister, Nellie Juanita Dorsey of Stroud, OK; one daughter-in-law, Linda Patton of Edmond, OK; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Memorials may be made to the Pre School Play Ground Fund, P.O. Drawer 577, Chandler, Oklahoma 74834 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 18, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Chandler, Oklahoma, with Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Stroud Cemetery in Stroud, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.
