Elmer Lee Smith

Elmer Lee Smith, born September 27, 1925, left this life on January 19, 2013, at the age of 87. He was the son of John 'Otis' Smith & Marie Ertel Gough. Elmer was born and raised in Harrah, OK. He was married to Virginia Lee Laughlin for 64 1/2 years before her death in June, 2008. Elmer served as a Marine in WWII from 1943-46 where he made the Iwo Jima landing. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 28 years where he retired in 1981. After retirement, he and Virginia were snowbirds in south Texas for several years. He is survived by two daughters, Donna O'Hern and husband, Bob and Ginger Eckart; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Also one sister, Virginia Drew and husband, John, sister-in-law, Barbara Smith, half-brother, Gilbert Gough, and several nieces and nephews. Elmer was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Smith and one grandson. Many thanks to Hospice Quality Care. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Harrah United Methodist Church, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Randy Little officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah,OK.
