Ella Liddie Broyles

October 23, 1926 — May 25, 2019

Ella Liddie Broyles of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa. She was born on October 23, 1926 in Prague, Oklahoma to Walter and Liddie Jones. She was next to the youngest of 12 children – 9 girls and 3 boys, all raised on the farm. She met Clyde Broyles in the late 1940s and married him on January 26, 1950. Soon afterward, they moved to Tulsa, where they raised their four daughters. Their family would be blessed many times with eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Clyde left this life in 1996 after 46 years of marriage. While singing with the Ambassador Choir at Asbury United Methodist Church, Ella then met another special man, Clarence (Clancy) Lain, who she married in 2002. Clancy passed away in 2006. Ella graduated from Paden High School in Okfuskee County. She worked many jobs in her lifetime but settled at Shell Oil Co., from which she retired in 1989. She was very busy raising four daughters while working, but her family was always a priority. She loved visiting with her siblings and enjoyed her visits back to Prague. In their retirement, she and Clyde bought land in Pawnee where they raised cattle and entertained their grandchildren until Clyde passed away. She was an active grandmother attending her grandchildren's school activities, sporting events, plays, ceremonies and a variety of other special occasions. She looked forward to holidays when she would see her whole family together. Ella was a woman of great faith and always got her girls to church on Sunday. She was active in Sandusky Christian Church, Bellaire Christian Church, and finally Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was a member for over 20 years. She loved singing in the Senior Choir at Asbury and attending her weekly Sunday school classes. Ella was a talented woman with her hands. She could do anything from painting to sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She was so proud of her crafts, especially her quilts, and loved to keep busy. Ella was preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde R. Broyles and Clarence Lain; daughters, Velina E. Broyles, Regina Stanley, and Deborah Brazeal; parents, Walter and Liddie Jones, and 10 of her siblings. Ella is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Braun (Mike) and Nancy Gotcher (Mark); son in law, Robert Butler; her sister, Doris Barrett; her grandchildren, Jason Brazeal, Spencer Brazeal (Nichol), Joshua Brazeal (Taylor), Dustin Brazeal (Tiffany), Jordan Bruno (Weston), Blake Braun, Colin Vo Kavanaugh (Chi), Mackenzie Kavanaugh, Madison Kavanaugh, Eric Rowe and Angela Baumeister (Pete); and eleven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Inverness Village, Founders Hall, 3800 West 71st Street. Tulsa, Oklahoma. Graveside services will follow in Prague, Oklahoma, where Ella will be laid to rest next to Clyde. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (Tulsa Affiliate), in honor of her two daughters who battled breast cancer. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague, Oklahoma.
