Elizabeth "Donnell" Green, a longtime resident of the Tulsa and Broken Arrow areas, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 in Broken Arrow. Donnell was born on August 20, 1927, in Carney. She was the daughter of Henry "Oliver" and Ruth Elizabeth (Lofton) Pickett. She grew up in Carney and was a graduate of Carney High School. Following high school, Donnell began her college career at the Oklahoma College for Women, which later became the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. She then enrolled at Oklahoma A&M, now, Oklahoma State University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree. Upon graduating from Oklahoma A&M, Donnell began a long career with Oklahoma Natural Gas. She spent over thirty years, teaching Oklahomans to cook with gas. She had several television cooking shows throughout her career. Her cooking shows reached people in all corners of the state, starting in Oklahoma City, then to Tulsa and eastern Oklahoma. Upon retirement from ONG, volunteered at her church then she worked several years for Mary Ruby's Dress Shop. (Continued on Page 2) Donnell lived for 94 years, and she took full advantage of all of them. She was very social, made friends everywhere she went. She had a group of lifelong friends, that she traveled the world with and made many memories through adventures and experiences, well into her eighties and nineties. Donnell was known for her class and style. She was sophisticated and well spoken. She in her eighties was an award-winning dancer. She competed in many dance competitions. She traveled around to several states, not only competing but winning many of those. Donnell was preceded in death by parents Oliver and Ruth Pickett; brothers, Lester F. Pickett Sr and wife Beryl, James Oliver" Sonny" Pickett; sisters, Lovella A. (Pickett) Hester and husband Kenneth; Infant twins Larry and Letha Pickett and infant sister Mary Louise Pickett; brother-in-law Herschel Stearman; nephew, Lester Franklin Pickett Jr, and great niece, Kristal Sanders. Those left to cherish and celebrate her life are; sister-in-law Joann Pickett; her nieces and nephews, Barbara Pickett Stearman, Charolette McKinney, Betty Pickett Makintubee, David Hester, Cherri Pickett Brown and Janet Pickett Hall, and host of family and friends.
