Edward Lee Harder, age 79, of Newalla, OK, was born on September 8, 1929, in Newalla, OK. He was the son of Perry James & Minnie Mae Rimer Harder. He left this life on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 in Newalla, OK. Ed was a life-long resident of Newalla, OK. He married Avis Coeta Roach on February 16, 1952, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Ed proudly served in the U. S. Army and he worked at Tinker AFB for 41 years as a quality control specialist. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Newalla, OK and the Moose Lodge. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, carpentry and mechanic work helping his dad. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edith Modena and two brothers, Melvin & Louis Harder. Survivors include his wife, Avis Harder, Newalla, OK; son & daughter, David & Marilyn Harder, Edmond, OK; 2 grandchildren, Michele & Michael Whitaker, Edmond, OK, Melissa Harder, Edmond, OK, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Quality Care and the Midwest Regional Hospital nursing staff for their wonderful help and care. Services will be held 2:00PM Friday, December 5, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, Newalla, OK with Rev. Griff Henderson and Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Interment will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Newalla, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
