Edna DeAnn Pence, Chandler, Oklahoma, was born on July 24, 1939, in Okemah, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 64. DeAnn was the daughter of Donald and Edna McBride Bean. She married Kenneth Pence on July 25, 1958, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. DeAnn received her degree in Home Economics from Oklahoma State University in 1962. She was employed by the Chandler Public Schools as the home economics teacher, a position she held for over 38 years. In 2003, DeAnn became the second home economics teacher to be inducted in to the Oklahoma Foundation For Career and Tech Education Hall of Fame in 2003. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She became a member of the Chapter AN P.E.O. Sisterhood in 1965. DeAnn was very active in the Democratic Party, member of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln County Historical Society, Arts and Humanities Council, Indian Springs Chapter of D.A.R., and was a Senior State Chairperson for Children of the American Revolution. DeAnn and her husband served as docents at the Oklahoma Governor?s Mansion, until her health began to fail. Her father preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Pence of the home; one daughter & son-in-law, LaRetah Kay & Kevin Najera of Tulsa, OK; one grandson, Douglas Anthony ?Tony? Lee of Okla. City, OK; mother, Edna Bean of Okemah, OK; two brothers & sisters-in-law, Donald, Jr. & Patty Bean of Okemah, OK and John & Judi Bean of Okemah, OK; other relatives and many friends.
