Edith Sedlacek

Edith Myrl Sedlacek of Meeker, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 88.

She was born on June 5, 1936 in Connerville Oklahoma to Floyd and Minnie Eva (Bow) Sampson.

Edith married Edward Lee Sedlacek on February 21, 1958 at the First Baptist Church in Ada, Oklahoma. She met her husband Edward Lee while working at a sandwich shop. They built their home on the Sedlacek family farm raising their 4 children Howard, Robert, Phyllis and Gary all of Meeker and enjoying her time with her 2 grandson Thomas and Heston Sedlacek-Welch of Carney.

Edith was a graduate of Connerville High School and later attended Murray State College and East Central University, Ada, Oklahoma.

Edith was employed at Sylvania Electric Products for a couple of years before starting her 25 year career as an Engineering Technician at Tinker Air Force Base.

After retirement she worked on the family farm. She had many different hobbies. She particularly enjoyed working in her flower beds and garden, along with canning vegetables. Edith treasured cooking and entertaining for her family on the holidays. She crochet afghans, along with pot holders, she loved to sew and was a avid reader. She loved to raise baby chicks up to egg layers, cooking with her home grown eggs. She enjoyed her welsh corgi’s. She loved to feed and watch the many birds that came around. Especially the hummingbirds. Edith was a loving aunt taking her nieces and nephews to school and babysitting. She enjoyed playing corn hole with her grandsons and watching them excel in baseball and basketball. She loved to play games/dominoes with her grandsons along with working word search and playing solitaire.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Larry Wayne and his wife Jane Sampson, one sister-in-law Diane Sampson.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Edward Lee of 66 years, her beloved children: Howard, Robert, Phyllis and Gary Sedlacek of Meeker; her two grandsons Thomas and Heston Sedlacek-Welch of Carney; three brothers, Floyd Sampson of Texas, Lloyd Ray and Georgia Sampson, and Joe Sampson both of Ada, Oklahoma; and a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Czech Cemetery in Prague, OK
