Earl Wayne Cody was born on October 2, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and departed this life on January 28, 2004, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 55. Earl, the son of Robert Glenn and Edith LaVerle Turner Cody, lived in Oklahoma City area most of his life, was a graduate of Northwest Classen High School with the class of 1967, and attended the University of Arkansas on a football scholarship. He served with the Army National Guard for 6 years. Earl married Jenny L. Rose on December 27, 1977, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He was an independent insurance agent in Oklahoma for over 30 years, was active as a coach for Edmond little league sports, and an avid golfer and racquetball player. His father and grandparents preceded Earl in death. Survivors include his wife, Jenny, of the home; mother, Edith Cody, Oklahoma City, OK; two sons, Chris Cody, Edmond, OK and Kyle Cody, Norman, OK; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Don Hensley, Oklahoma City, OK; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Nancy Cody, Edmond, OK; mother-in-law, Margaret Parks, Prague, OK; two brothers-in-law, Rev. David and Anna Faye Rose, Oklahoma City, OK and Morri Rose, Midwest City, OK; two sisters-in-law, Terra Bannister McMinn, Houston, TX and Jeannene Bernard, Houston, TX; and one grandson, Aaron Cody, Edmond, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Edmond, the Edmond Public Schools Foundation, American Cancer Society, or Frontier Hospice.
