Dorothy Emelia Griggs, long-time Meeker, OK, resident was born on July 17, 1923, in Meeker, and departed this life on Monday, September 20, 2010, in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 87 years. Dorothy was the daughter of Jess and Mattie (Galloway) James. She married Loi Andrew Griggs on November 2, 1940. Dorothy was a homemaker and attended the First United Methodist Church in Meeker. Her parents, husband, one son, one brother and four sisters preceded Dorothy in death. Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Anthony & Cheryl Griggs of Sparks, OK, sister, Lora Verburg of Sparks, OK, grandson & wife, Justin & Elizabeth Griggs of OKC, other relatives and many friends. Memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Meeker. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at 10:00 A.M., at the First United Methodist Church in Meeker, OK, with Rev. Mike Melton, Rev. Debbie Ingraham and Rev. Mike Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Jacktown, OK. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
