Dorothy Bernice Tuter

TUTER, DOROTHY BERNICE – Age 95 In loving memory of our mother who went to be with her Lord on June 3, 2008 in McLoud, OK. She was born Nov. 26, 1912 to Troy Thomas and Abigail Esther Farrington Harris at Rocksprings, R.F.D. in Atoka Co., OK. She grew up in Caddo, OK, graduating from Caddo High School in 1931. In 1934 Dorothy moved to Okla. City and worked at the YWCA. She and Melvin Rolland Tuter were married July 7, 1936 in Okla. City. The family lived in Ponca City, OK from 1948 till 1976, moving to McLoud, OK after Mr. Tuter retired from Conoco Oil Refinery. Dorothy was a member of the McLoud First Baptist Church and for many years taught the BYKOTA class. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, & great-great grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, reading, and crossword puzzles. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, who passed away August 15, 1999; her grandson, Calvin Keeler; her parents; two sisters, Mary Dow Choate & Pauline Logan; and three brothers, James Leroy, John Clarence, and Troy Thomas Harris, Jr. She is survived by one son, Rolland F. Tuter and wife, Pat of McLoud; one daughter, Carolyn Keeler of Okla. City; 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great- grandchildren with 2 more on the way. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to Hospice Quality Care, Inc. 921 S. Sooner Road, Del City, OK 73110-2041 or the building fund of McLoud First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 180, McLoud, OK 74851. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the First Baptist Church McLoud with Rev. Larry Sparks and Rev. Earnest Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, McLoud, OK, beside her husband. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
