Doris Deaun Stearman Edmonson

Doris DeAun Stearman Edmonson was born on February 26, 1924, in Meeker, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at her home in Meeker , Oklahoma, at the age of 87. Doris, the daughter of George Edward and Nellie May (McCamey) Stearman, was a resident of Meeker most of her life. She attended school at Valley View and Meeker. She married Fred G. W. Edmonson on June 29, 1942 in Meeker. Shortly after their marriage, Doris and Fred moved to California. After six years, they returned to a farm northwest of Meeker. Fred preceded Doris in death on May 25, 1994. Doris was a homemaker and enjoyed camping, attending basketball games, and the senior citizens center. Her parents; brothers Evert, Raymond, Bill, Sam and Frank; sisters Marie Collier, Myrtle McKibben, Annis Clark, Ethel Stearman, Roberta Quandt and Hazel Hudson also preceded Doris in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie and Wilma Edmonson of Shawnee, Ron and Joyce Edmonson of Meeker; grandchildren and their spouses, Randy Edmonson of Shawnee, Jeff and Michelle Edmonson of Shawnee, Shari and Wayne Sligar of Shawnee, Wendi and Jason Campbell of Meeker, Kerri and Troy Perkins of Meeker, Rhonda and Darren Raines of Paden, Charity and Michael Rempel of Prague; 15 great-grandchildren; Amber, Emberly, Emma and Easton Edmonson, Zac, Devin and Grace Sligar, Jordan, Jacob,and Jaylee Campbell, Hunter, Caselyn, Denali and Destry Raines, Miley Rempel. Viewing and visitation will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker on Saturday, April 23, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and on Sunday, April 24, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2:00 PM, at Morning Star Baptist Church in Meeker with Rev. Jack Brown, Rev. Brian Pain, Rev. Carl Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
