Donald Hugh Shelby, 87 died Thursday, October 13, 2005, at the Harrah Nursing Center, Harrah, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Pat Marie Shelby, his youngest son, Eric Shelby, and brothers, Forrest, Ed, Bob, Jerry, Raymond, Floyd, Walter and Bud. He is survived by sons, Don L. Hoot Shelby and wife Joy, Gary Shelby and wife Linda, Paul Shelby and wife Barbara. He leaves behind five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Don served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at Tinker AFB for 32 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #541 in Nicoma Park where he was a 32nd degree Mason. Pat and Don grew up in the Choctaw area and after they married, made their home and raised their sons in Choctaw. They were very much a part of the ?Old Choctaw? community. Don will be remembered for his jokes, silliness and great sense of humor. Typical of his shenanigans, he died six years to the day the love of his life, Pat, died. Both of their stones will read October 13. He was a man well loved by all who knew him. Services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church, Choctaw, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Choctaw, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
