Donald Lynn Bennett, of Meeker, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 74. Donald was born on February 26, 1950 in Rotan, Texas and was the son of Edgar L. and Carol Sue (Weaver) Bennett. Donald grew up in California and at seventeen years old, signed up to serve his country with the United States Army. During his Army career, Donald served in Vietnam on two occasions and was awarded for his bravery with the Purple Heart Medal. Following Donald’s service, he worked for many years as a house painter and carpenter before he found his true calling, working with race horses.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Robert Weaver.
He is survived by his children, Kenneth Lee Bennett, Stacy Lynn Taber and Jarrod David Bennett; five grandchildren, Shae Marie Taber, Logan Jessy Taber, Kyla Casey Conrad, Brandon David Swink and Annabelle Bird Bennett; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Terry Bennett and Kelly Bennett; one sister, Sherry Taylor; his aunt. Peggy Overholtzer; his uncle, Don Henry Weaver and a host of family and friends.
Donald will be laid to rest at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
