Don Harold ''Mouse'' Winkler, age 63, was born on April 10, 1945 in McLoud, OK. He was the son of Paul Thomas & Mary Margaret Mitchell Winkler. He shed his earthen shell on Monday, November 3, 2008, at his home in McLoud, OK. Don graduated from McLoud High School in 1963 and then served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War era. He married Charla May Crackenburg of Layton, Utah in 1963 and they had one son, Gregg Allen. Don was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his son, Gregg Allen Winkler, Lawton, OK ; grandson, David Thomas Winkler, Pottsville, AR; brother, David Paul Winkler, Lansing, MI; 2 sisters & 1 brother-in-law, Beth & Martin Thomas, Emporia, KS, Judith Ann Silva, Shawnee, OK and numerous relatives and friends. Don was a carpenter and artisan for most of his life and his passion for wood was evident in the artistry of his beautiful woodcarving. He loved being with nature, and reading, especially science fiction. As a master woodcarver, he was driven to whittle until he found the ''soul'' within a stick. An open air memorial service officiated by Don''s uncle, Rev. Bill Mitchell of Tecumseh will be held at Forrest Cemetery, Meeker, Oklahoma on November 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
