Dennis Clark Smith passed away on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 at the age of 69. Dennis was born on June 13, 1954 in Prague, Oklahoma. He was the second son of four children born to William C. "Bill" and Doris (Fennel) Smith. Dennis spent his entire childhood and school years in Prague. He was a 1972 graduate of Prague High School. During his final year of high school, Dennis studied to be a machinist at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech.
After high school, Dennis was employed for a brief time in Okemah, Oklahoma, as a machinist. He would soon leave Prague and make a move to Oklahoma City. Upon settling in Oklahoma City, Dennis began a career working with vacuum cleaners, as a salesman and service technician. He later moved into a management position, operating his own store in Shawnee. Dennis spent nearly forty years working at Oklahoma Vacuum and AI NW Vacuum and Janitorial. Dennis was such a skilled vacuum technician that customers began to follow him as he changed companies. They would come in and ask "Do you have that great service man that looks like Santa Claus working here? I want him to do my repairs."
After retirement, Dennis moved back to Prague to be near his family. Before Dennis's health began to decline, he loved going to custom car shows, dirt bike races, monster truck rallies and taking road trips with family. He especially loved to discover new places with good food. Dennis also had a love for motorcycles, he owned several throughout his life. He took his first job as a shoe shiner at the local barber shop and saved the money he earned to buy his first bike.
Dennis also enjoyed sitting around and talking about the good ole days and before long he would have everyone laughing. He had a dry wit that brought a smile and laugh to everyone. If you were ever in need of help, a place to stay, a hot meal or needed money, you could always count on Dennis to give you anything he had to offer. Dennis was a true friend and one of the last "good ole guys."
Dennis loved the simple life and simple satisfied him. His favorite times were enjoying the company of his daughter, Alicia, and his grandchildren, Charlotte and Warren. He enjoyed cooking in the crockpot, watching his favorite cowboy movies and westerns and laughing at old television shows from the 1960's that he had already seen many times.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, William C. "Bill" Smith; sister-in-law, Peggy Smith, brother in-laws, Wesley Smith and John Smith both paternal and maternal grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Doris Smith of Prague; his daughter, Alicia Davis and her husband, Kevin of Marlow; grandchildren, Charlotte and Warren Davis of Marlow; his brother, Mark Smith of Porum; his sisters, Debbie Harden and her husband David of Prague and Janet Coffey, also of Prague and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
