Katherine Deloris Nolene Kubicek was born on July 24, 1926 to Asa and Maggie Markham at Tonkawa, Oklahoma; and departed this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. Deloris lived her entire adult life with Jim, her husband of 71 years, on their farm in the Econtuchka Bottom NE of Shawnee. They were married January 4, 1948. In addition to being a mother of four children and partner with her farming husband, Deloris became a cosmetology instructor as well as owner/operator of her own beauty shop. While her kids were advancing their education, she secretly secured her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development acclaiming her life’s philosophy, “you’re never too old”. For more than thirty years, Deloris owned & operated Farm-Del Kennel at their family farm; an exceptional service still fondly recalled by so many of her pet loving customers. Her reputation for making “apricot fried pies”: and “red velvet cake” were legendary. She loved to travel and worked diligently to provide the time and money for family summer vacations. And her tradition of taking grandchildren on individual adventurous trips was an inspiration during their developmental years. She, along with her husband, was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee; teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and helping lead her children to Christ. Her legacy of love of family and adventure will continue thru the generations of those she leaves behind. Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim; son Rick and grandson Shawn; and sister Wanda Martie. She is survived by three children: Mike Kubicek (wife, Kianna) of Shawnee; Connie Cox (husband, David) of Broken Arrow; and Steve Kubicek (wife, Cindy) of Baton Rouge, LA; sister Norma Hooker of Macon, GA; and sister-in-law Mary Ann McGee of Shawnee. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Jeremie Kubicek (wife, Kelly) of Edmond; Jon Newell (wife, Susan) of Cincinnati, OH; Stephanie Marshall (husband, Tim) of Medicine Lodge, KS; Kraig Kubicek (wife, Amanda) of Saint Charles, MO; Matthew Kubicek (wife, Kim) of Baton Rouge, LA; Lacie Kubicek; seventeen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their heart-felt appreciation for the compassionate home care provided by Susan Herron, Kae McGinnis and Malisa Daniel; and the caring support provided by Heartland Hospice.
