Debra LaFern Poindexter, age 62, of Newalla, OK, was born February 19, 1954, in Junction City, Kansas. She was the daughter of Richard Grant Speake & Margaret LaVern (Depew) Rutledge. She left this life on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, in Newalla, OK. Debra attended school in Junction City, Kansas. She married Archie Poindexter on August l, 1972, in Junction City, Kansas. Debra was a homemaker, waitress, motel manager, bookkeeper, truck driver and legal secretary. She enjoyed computer games, attending her grandchildren's sports events and playing with her grandchildren. She loved her special friend, Dottie, her Jack Russell terrier. She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Linda Carpenter. Survivors include her husband, Archie Poindexter, Newalla, OK; 4 sons & daughters-in-law, Henry & Monica Staggs, Phoenix, AZ, Richard Staggs, Las Vegas, NV, Archie & Monica Poindexter, Newalla, OK, David & Shannon Poindexter, Ft. Smith, AR; daughter, Artina Connell, Tucson, AZ; mother, Margaret Rutledge, Junction City, KS; brother, Kevin Hill, Mason City, IA; sister, Cathy Pettus, Junction City, KS; 9 grandchildren: 1 great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Smith-Parks Funeral Service, 2039 N. Tim Holt Dr., Harrah, OK. Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, July 22, 2016, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK. Interment will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Newalla, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
