David Michael Sedlacek of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024 in
Shawnee at the age of 81.
David was born on Tuesday, April 13, 1943 to Emil and Carrie (Janota) Sedlacek in Prague, OK. David grew up in the Prague area, attending Prague Schools and graduating from Prague High School. Following high school, David worked as a dockworker in the freight business. He worked many years for Chief Freight Lines, Transcon, and Consolidated Freight Lines in which he retired from there in 1992. David married the love of his life, Carol Jean Morris, and the two were happily married for 55 years until her passing in 2020.
They made their home in Prague and were blessed with many happy years together. David enjoyed being active. He loved to do all things outdoors including hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and getting to see and spend time with them. He was known as “Papa David” to the little ones who knew him.
David was preceded in death by his wife Carol Jean Sedlacek; his sister Emily Spitler; his parents Emil and Carrie Sedlacek and his grandson in-law Tyler Carpenter.
He is survived by his son Richie Sedlacek and his wife Traci; daughter Shannon Holland and husband Derek;and grandchildren Karis Jade Carpenter, Richmond Derek Sedlacek and his wife Amber, Devin Brook Sedlacek, Bostyn Kip Collins and his wife Jayda. Great grandchildren, Colton Carpenter, Viviann Blayke Carpenter, Ella Jade Carpenter, Iris Jo Sedlacek , Jackson Ray Sedlacek, Ivy Faye Collins, Boone Kip Collins; and sister Norene Zink and her husband Ken. Brother in-law Paul Spitler. His two cats of the home Baby & Fluffy; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
