On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, Darrell E. Lortz of Sapulpa, OK, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather passed away at the age of 91. Darrell was born on Aug 17, 1929 in Long Beach, California to Charles Dewey and Ruth Ida (Mason) Lortz. Darrell joined the Marine Reserve and served until he received a collage deferment. He transferred to the Oklahoma Air National Guard and was activated during the Korean Conflict. Darrell met the love of his life while deployed to Biloxi Mississippi, Fredine J. Clark. They married and had four children, Pamela Sue Golden, John E. Lortz, Thomas A. Lortz, and Charles G. Lortz. Darrell worked for AT&T for 31 years as a Radio Repairman. He started in the Oklahoma City office and later transferred to the relay station in Mounds, Oklahoma where he remained until his retirement. He was a Union Shop Steward. Darrell loved woodworking. He made many wooden toys for his grandkids. He also enjoyed planting a garden. He enjoyed camping, and they took several long trips, including the Oregon Trail and the Natchez Trace Parkway. Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Dewey, mother, Ruth, wife, Freddie, daughter, Pamela and son Thomas. A celebration of Darrell’s life is planned for the family at Carney Cemetery.
