Daphine “Joy” Edmond passed away on January 26, 2020 in Prague, Oklahoma at the age of 93. Joy was born June 4, 1926 in Lincoln County, Oklahoma near Prague to Joseph Daniel and Zelphia Elizabeth (Haymaker) Lynch. Joy spent all of her life living in the Prague area. She married Vernon Edmond on May 29, 1945 at the home of Rev. Farley, the Methodist minister in Prague. The two enjoyed watching the children grow up, going to the lake, seeing the country in their RV and attending OU football games. The two were happily married until Vernon’s death on August 29, 1999. The two had four children, three daughters, Patricia Fouquet, Joyce Anderson and Charlotte Edmond and one son, Larry Edmond, who passed away as an infant. Joy started out as a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband’s refrigeration business. Later, she went to work for University Hospital in Oklahoma City. She worked there as a phlebotomist for twelve years until her retirement in 1986. Joy was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Prague. She was very involved in all activities but particularly enjoyed the senior events and volunteering with the Care Closet. She was also very involved in all of her family’s activities and took great pleasure in caring for them. She was always the hostess of the annual family reunion and hayride. Joy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Edmond; infant son, Larry Edmond; grandsons, Robert Anderson and James Fouquet; son-in-law, Doyle Fouquet; four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Pat Fouquet, Joyce Anderson and her husband, Clifton, and Charlotte Edmond; three grandchildren, Jennifer Edwards and her husband Ken, Tessa Stinnett and her husband Chuck, and Courtney Kniess and her husband, John; seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl Young, Edna Collins and Dorothy Hall; one brother, James Lynch and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund in Joy’s name. Contact (405) 567-4977 for more information.
