Danny Carl Broyles, age 67, of Newalla, OK, was born on August 23, 1947, in Joplin, Missouri. He was the only child to proud parents, Kenneth and Lorraine Broyles of Garfield, Arkansas. He left this world behind to join the Lord on October 29, 2014. A harsh reminder to some, that time is not promised to us and that some day may never come. Danny graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1967 and completed one semester at Metropolitan Jr. College in Kansas City, Missouri before enlisting in the United States Army. Danny proudly served and was a decorated combat veteran during the Vietnam War. He was assigned to the 9th division, 5th battery, 60th infantry recon and later served with the first infantry battalion, 16th infantry in the infamous Iron Triangle and then becoming a member of the highly respected group of veterans known as Bandido Charlie. As a result of his hard combat time in service to his country, Danny suffered with PTSD after being honorably discharged. As a personal victim of PTSD he was able to gain a great understanding of veterans needs and the process of gaining these men their benefits as well as his own. In 1998 he became actively involved as a jr. vice commander for the Mid-Del Chapter #39 disabled veterans group. He tediously and proudly served as a DAV rep from that time until 2001, gaining multiple veterans, including himself, the disability benefits owed to them for their service and sacrifice. Danny was a comedian and loved to pull gags and practical jokes on his friends. Almost as much as he loved joking around he loved 50's and 60's oldies music and the movie Labamba was played more in the Broyles home than any other place on earth. Danny loved to cook outdoors and he prided himself on making smoked meats that tasted delicious and he loved feeding people. Danny loved the solitude of country life. As Danny was an only child, he had very little family and in return developed a tight knit group of long term friends that stood by him and supported him for many years. His strong, 'never back down' personality also gained him the affection of most long term Newalla residents. Special thanks and great gratitude to those who came in his time of need: Wes Daniels, the Bailey family, Jimmy Godwin, Tommy Boulware and neighbor, Vera. Much appreciation to all his friends that acted as his family throughout the years. You are all forever in the surviving family's debt. May God bless you all as you have blessed us. Danny was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Johnson, Earlsboro, OK; 2 grandchildren, Hanna & Janie Johnson other relatives and many friends. Services will be private. Interment will be at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK at a later date. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
