Daniel Nelson Smith

Daniel Nelson Smith was born on November 5, 1923, in Seminole County, and departed this life on Thursday, June 30, 2016, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, at the age of 92. Daniel, the son of Porter and Sarah Jane (Coleman) Smith, was a resident of Prague. He attended West Vanzant School. Daniel married Ruth Mercer on May 13, 1942. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, and retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1972. Daniel’s wife, parents, two brothers, four sisters, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter preceded him in death. Survivors include his sons Jerry and Anita Smith of Prague, Jimmy Smith of Prague, Gary and Debbie Smith of Prague, Ronny and Gale Smith of Shawnee, and Davy and Paula Smith of Texas; daughters Donna and David Davidson of Prague and Dana Carter of Prague; 21 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. The Smith family will receive friends on Sunday, July 3, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Prague First Baptist Church, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Davy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery.
