Daniel William Lowery was born October 31, 1940 in Turley, Oklahoma and departed this life in Stroud, Oklahoma on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the age of 76 years. Dan was the son of Walker F. and Loma Elizabeth (Neal) Lowery. Dan married Eleonore Kirschbauer on January 6, 1960 in Landstuhl, Germany. He served in active duty with the United States Army for 14 years and served seven years with the 45th Infantry National Guard of Chandler. Dan was a combat Medic while completing two tours in Vietnam. He moved his family to Stroud in 1971 to be near his father and brother in Depew while he completed his second tour in Vietnam. Dan and Elly resided in Stroud for approximately 39 years and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary six months prior to Elly's death in July 2010. Dan moved to Chandler in 2011 and resided there until his death. Dan was employed with the City of Stroud for 22 years and he retired for the City of Stroud and from the military in 1996. He worked part time for the Turner Turnpike for eight years after he retired. He was preceded in death his parents, Walker and Loma, one son, Michael Leon, a grandson, Todd Warren Johnson, one brother, Donald, and four sisters, Hazel Odel, Maxine Garrison, Mary Jo Butler and Kathy Garrison. Survivors include, one son and daughter in law, Steven and Sheila Lowery of Stroud, one daughter and son in law, Ellly 'Ann' and Bobby Warren Johnson of Chandler, daughter in law, Sarah Lowery of Boulder City, Nevada, grandchildren, Alicia D. Johnson Mugele and John Mugele of Chandler, Jordan McQuay and Brooke McQuay of Boulder City, NV, Steven 'Jared' Lowery and Jessica Lowery of Stroud, great grandchildren, Payten, Brayten and Fisher Todd Mugele of Chandler, Amelia McQuay of Boulder City, NV., and Miles James Lowery of Stroud, other relatives and special friends, Eugene and Frankie Burchette of Meeker. Memorial graveside service will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Perry Tripp officiating. . Arrangement are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
